The Intention Audit

Most things in your work happen by accident — by default, by inertia, by whatever was already there. Koi exists to do the opposite. This worksheet asks the question most people skip: which parts of your work are by design, and which parts are by accident?

Prompt 1
Name three things in your work right now that exist by accident.
Things you inherited. Things "everyone does." Things that became habit before you ever decided whether they should be habits.
Prompt 2
Name three things in your work that exist because you decided they should.
Things you can trace back to an actual decision. Things you'd defend if challenged. Things that bear your signature.
Prompt 3
Compare the two lists. What does the imbalance tell you?
Most people find the first list is much longer than the second. Some find the opposite. Either is information.
Prompt 4
Pick one thing from the "by accident" list. What would it look like to redesign it by intention?
Don't pick the easiest one. Pick the one that's been bothering you the longest.
Prompt 5
What's stopping you from making that redesign in the next 30 days?
If the answer is "nothing," the next step is to put it on your calendar before you close this tab.
